Do you mean the VS3100 FPLATE itself onto which disks mount or the screws and rubber grommets Hthat are used to mount SOME disks onto SOME disk plates? Some disks on Hthe newer plates for the large box VS3100s don't even use the grommets, Dthey just screw right thru the plate into the mounting holes on the Hdrives directly. The setup would be aEbit cumbersome to maintain, in my view, just because of how seeminglyGcomplex it'd be. Windows OSes aren't stable, not really. And in orderGto get the kind of situation I'm in now with the emulation, I'd need toDkeep a terminal window open pretty near constantly. The prospect ofBsome hardware failure or other is a little worrysome to me as wellEsimply because I've seen too many computers which I thought were veryBwell-off simply not work as expected. All told, though, I supposeFthat's an idea, if there's absolutely nothing to be done about the VAXproblem.
