It will certainly hang, waiting for quorum to beDrestored, but it will happily continue, once at least one Alpha withGVOTES=1 and access to the quorum disk (acting as a quorum disk watcher)'brings quorum back to 2 (in this case).DThe reference to 'committing hara-kiri' only comes into play, if theDVAX would loose cluster communications to a running cluster for moreGthan RECNXINTERVAL seconds and would then successfully re-establish SCSEcommunication again. The other nodes would have already timed out theAVAX (after RECNXINTERVAL seconds) and would ask it to re-join the%cluster after taking a CLUEXIT crash.Volker.------------------------------%Date: Sat, 08 Jul 2006 03:20:26 -0400-From: JF Mezei <jfmezei.spamnot@teksavvy.com>Subject: Re: Cluster Question,Message-ID: <44AF5C9F.FC3C321D@teksavvy.com>Volker Halle wrote:F> The reference to 'committing hara-kiri' only comes into play, if theF> VAX would loose cluster communications to a running cluster for moreI> than RECNXINTERVAL seconds and would then successfully re-establish SCSG> communication again. The VAX, as sole survivor, wouldCmaintain the cluster alive (albeit in suspended animation), and the/alphas would rejoin the cluster already formed.------------------------------#Date: Sat, 08 Jul 2006 16:02:50 GMTFrom: Tom <tfd@verizon.net>0Subject: DEC 2000 AXP fails system power up test*Message-ID: <KGQrg.2895$bd4.1039@trnddc01>JI came into possesion of an Alpha system labeled as a DEC 2000 axp system.EIt had no video card so I stuck an old Paradise 8 bit VGA card in it,;connected a PC keyboard to the PS2 port, and powered it up.II get a screen telling me it has ROM version 1.3 and SRM firmware versionC309 followed by system power up tests. All componets, including the@keyboard, pass except the NVR which fails with a "00 0004" code.-These tests are followed by a message saying:B"Power-on self-test errors were detected. Continue NT boot (Y/N)?"FI thought this system had VMS on it but, whatever. The system does notGappear to be able to read from the keyboard. When I press Y or N or anyJother key, I get no response. I get no response when I press the space barBduring the memory test, either, and I get the same results using aKdifferent KB. If I remove the keyboard all together, I get a message sayingI"Console on serial line port 1 active. Keyboard not detected." So, I know the system DETECTS the keyboard.JI'm not sure where to go from here. Does the NVR failure have something toJdo with the inability to read the KB? How do I recover from that? Any helpwould be appreciated.TIA------------------------------$Date: Sat, 8 Jul 2006 07:22:12 -0400)From: "Neil Rieck" <n.rieck@sympatico.ca>Subject: Hoffman Labs<Message-ID: <44af94b9$0$18498$9a6e19ea@news.newshosting.com>JI just stumbled across a web site titled "Hoffman Labs" by Stephen Hoffmanhttp://hoffmanlabs.org/
