I'd expect this box to be 8increasingly likely to throw machine checks and crashes.F You may well have a thermal-related problem, or a weak or marginal Fcomponent, or both. In addition to marginal components in and around Gthe processor and the four megabyte B-cache secondary cache, there can Ialso exist marginal connections in sockets or traces. This would not be Fthe first time that thermally-triggered or intermittent problems have Dbeen seen within memory, obviously, and I might infer that this was Fwhere you were going when this whole thread kicked off; that you were Iseeking to replace the DIMMs in an attempt to resolve the machine checks.G This would all track with the intermittent machine checks that have +been reported over the past month, as well.I I'd tend to expect to start swapping major hunks of this AlphaStation HXP1000 box in the near future, and probably first starting with the CPU Fdaughter card.
