1 OWN Makes you the owner of one or more files which are in your directory but currently owned by someone else. Format: OWN file-spec[,...] 2 Parameters file-spec[,...] Specifies the names of one of more files whose ownership is to be changed. You can specify wild card characters in any of the file specification fields. To change more than one file, separate the file specifications with commas (,). 2 Qualifiers /CONFIRM /CONFIRM /CONFIRM=OCTAL /NOCONFIRM (D) Controls whether the OWN command displays the file specification and current owner UIC of each file before changing its ownership, and requests you to confirm whether or not the file's ownership should actually be changed. For a file to be changed, you must respond to a prompt with a Y, followed by RETURN. If anything else is entered, the file's ownership is not changed. The UIC is displayed alphabetically (when possible), unless you say /CONFIRM=OCTAL on the command line. Files which you already own are not displayed. If you enter CTRL-Y, CTRL-C, or CTRL-Z at the confirmation prompt, the OWN command terminates. /LOG /LOG /NOLOG (D) Controls whether the OWN command displays the file specification of each file after its ownership has been changed. If you already owned the file, its name is not displayed. /BY_OWNER /BY_OWNER=[group,member] /BY_OWNER=[identifier] Selects one or more files only if their current owner UIC matches the UIC specified on this qualifier. The UIC may be specified in octal or alphanumerically. OWN will not accept alphanumeric identifiers which do not correspond to known us- ers of the system.
