From: NAME: NANCY CHAREST @MKO FUNC: WORLDWIDE CUSTOMER PROGRAMS TEL: 603-884-0413 To: See Below CC: See Below Dear Participants, I hope you enjoy the attached memo from Arie De Groot, Account Manager for Philips Medical Systems. The two customer visits you participated in back on May 1 and 2 and October 10 were very successful. Philips has chosen the AlpahServer 800 as the computer they are going to use in the years 1997/1998 and possibly 1999. They have already placed the order for the first 8 production systems. The reconstructor computer project discussed in May was also successful. The workstation we placed at Philips out-performed their current SKY system. They are looking at both OpenVMS and WindowsNT operating systems for this project. All of you deserve congratulations as much time and effort was put in preparation for this meeting. I want you to know it was appreciated. If you would like any additional information, please feel free to contact Arie De Groot or myself. I know that I speak for Arie in saying many thanks to all. Best regards and Happy Holidays, Nancy Charest @MKO (DTN: 264-0413) Worldwide Customer Program Group I N T E R O F F I C E M E M O R A N D U M Date: 20-Dec-1996 02:51am EST From: Arie De Groot GROOT.ARIE.DE@A1UTROP1@UTREIS@UTO Dept: OEM Business Segment Tel No: +31 30 283 3166 DTN 838 3166 TO: Nancy Charest@MKO Subject: Philips Medical Systems update Nancy, It looks like the right time to me to review the results we achieved by both Philips Medical customer visits this year. I would say they were quite successful because Philips choose the AlphaServer 800 (Corelle) as the computer they are going to use in the years 1997/1998 and maybe 1999 (depending upon the life cycle of the product). The first test unit is already on its way and the order for the first 8 production systems has been received. Due to the careful prepared product implementation plan which we discussed in the last visit, it looks like all the necessary products will be available in time (before Christmas) so we will have a good start of 1997. The other project, the reconstructor computer, that was on the agenda on the second day in May, is also a success. As you know we installed a workstation at Philips and we outperformed the current system (SKY) with interesting figures. We are looking at both OpenVMS and Windows NT operating systems to pick the best solution for this area. We hope to close the feasibility study for this project in Q2 of CY97 so we can startup the embedding process directly after this. It will take about a year and we'll visit you twice again during this stage for selection and planning purposes. We expect that real production shipment flow will start in Q1/Q2 CY98. At that time we will ship appr. 600 systems per year (workstations and servers) to Philips Medical. Looks like a job well done by Digital. We thank you and your colleagues in the US for the support you gave to these sales. This year knew only 1 setback: Robbert Kuppens left the company for a new career at Nolan Norton Consultants, a real important consultancy firm here in Holland, so he won't be there anymore when we visit you next time. We're still looking for replacement which isn't easy as you can imagine. I wish you and your colleagues a merry Christmas and a successful 1997. Hope to see you again soon.
