So, if you upgrade one server and B           not the other, a scheduled incremental save will fail if?           the last scheduled save was done by the other server. A           Your backup schedule will be disrupted because you will >           be forced to do a full save when you wanted to do an           incremental save.                                                         +     1-2 Upgrading From Spiralog Version 1.0                          I                                                                         2 I         _________________________________________________________________   I                                                Before Installing Spiralog     F               This chapter describes the tasks you must perform before#               you install Spiralog:   9               1. Set Up the Installation Account  4         2.1 Check Prerequisite Hardware and Software  F               Before you install Spiralog Version 1.1, make sure that:  C               o  You are running OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.0 or later   6               o  You have at least 64 Mbytes of memory  H               o  You have either RAID 5 (hardware or software) or volume                  shadowing  ?               o  Your system disk has at least 9200 free blocks   B               You do not need a Product Authorization Key (PAK) to               install Spiralog.   $         2.2 Back Up Your System Disk  H               A failure during installation could leave your system diskH               in an inconsistent state. Reboot   C               The time required to install Spiralog depends on your A               system. On a DEC 3000 Model 300 it takes about five                minutes.  *         3.1 Choose How to Install Spiralog  A               To install Spiralog you use the POLYCENTER Software D               Installation utility, which is supplied as part of theF               OpenVMS Alpha operating system software. It provides two               interfaces:   !               o  DECwindows Motif                  o  DCL  G               You can install Spiralog into SYS$SPECIFIC or SYS$COMMON.   #         3.1.1 Choosing SYS$SPECIFIC   H               If you have a VMScluster and want to install Spiralog onlyE               on one computer in your VMScluster, you must install it C               into SYS$SPECIFIC. You cannot do this with DECwindows 4               Motif; you must use the DCL interface.  G               If you have already installed a product into SYS$SPECIFIC I               that modified DCLTABLES.EXE, you must either deinstall that <               product or install Spiralog into SYS$SPECIFIC.  I                                                   Installing Spiralog 3-1                 Installing Spiralog &     3.1 Choose How to Install Spiralog    D           It is likely that any product that modified DCLTABLES.EXE,B           such as DEC C, is installed in SYS$COMMON, in which case>           you can install Spiralog into either SYS$SPECIFIC or           SYS$COMMON.        3.1.2 Choosing SYS$COMMON   ?           If you want Spiralog to be available on more than one ?           computer in your VMScluster, you must install it into C           SYS$COMMON. In this case, use either the DECwindows Motif            or the DCL interface.   >           If you want to install Spiralog into SYS$COMMON, you?           must first deinstall any product already installed in 3           SYS$SPECIFIC that modified DCLTABLES.EXE.        3.1.3 Reinstalling Spiralog   <           If you are upgrading or reinstalling Spiralog, theC           POLYCENTER Software Installation utility installs it into C           the same location as the previous installation. To change B           the location to which you are installing, you must first/           deinstall Spiralog (see Section 4.3).   #     3.1.4 Getting Installation Help   D           For a description of the features you can request when youB           start the installation, refer either to DECwindows Motif;           help or DCL help for the PRODUCT INSTALL command.   C           For help during a DECwindows Motif installation, click on >           Help in the POLYCENTER Software Installation window.  A           To control the level of help during a DCL installation, <           include the /HELP qualifier in the PRODUCT INSTALLC           command line or press the Help key at any time during the            installation.   4     3.2 Install Using the DECwindows Motif Interface  E           When you use the DECwindows Motif interface, the POLYCENTER A           Software Installation utility installs the product into            SYS$COMMON.   C           To install Spiralog using the DECwindows Motif interface,            follow these steps:   =           1. If you omit /TRANSPORT, the 0                     protocol defaults to DECnet.  -               2.
