	you do not remember correctly!

For the uVAX/VAXstation 2000, the disk drives have to have DS3 selected on the
jumpers. This is true for both the internal drive, and the external expansion
box drive, if installed.   If the external drive box is not the "real" 2000
series box, but one of the old shoe-boxes, then you may find DS3 might not
be correct, but for the genuine box, DS3.

It is, in fact documented, but you have to see the right document.

I do admit that that document does have "Digital Internal Use Only" printed
on it...... it was too useful????    ;-)
