============================
ABOUT THIS PATCH
----------------
**************************************************************************
**WARNING:****WARNING:****WARNING:****WARNING:****WARNING:****WARNING:**
IMPORTANT: THE PLATFORMS WHICH ARE SUPPORTED BY THIS PATCH ARE:
1) Sun Blade T6320 Server Blades containing Service Processor PART NO. 510-1170-06.
2) Sun Blade T6320 G2 Server Blades containing Service Processor PART NO. 511-1304-xx.
DO NOT USE IT ON ANY OTHER BLADE OR SERVICE PROCESSOR PART NUMBER.
**************************************************************************
FUNCTION OF PATCH
-----------------
Allows for reliable function with X4835A - Sun Blade T6320/T6340 PCIe Pass
Through FEM Fabric Expansion Module and X4238A - Sun Blade 6000 Virtualized NEM.
CHANGE Client Mode to ALOM if currently using ILOM
--------------------------------------------------
SUNSP00XXXXXXXXXX login: root
Password:
-> cd /SP/users/root
/SP/users/root
-> set cli_mode=alom
Set 'cli_mode' to 'alom'
-> exit
TO CHECK THE SERVICE PROCESSOR HARDWARE VERSION
-----------------------------------------------
There are 3 types of service processor cards which will allow the successful
application of this patch:
1) Cards which were originally manufactured at 510-1170-06.
2) Cards which were originally manufactured at 510-1170-05 and then subsequently
upgraded to 510-1170-06 via firmware upgrades at the repair depot.
3) Cards which were originally manufactured at 511-1304-xx (all dash levels are supported).
This can be determined using showfru as follows:
Login to the service processor as root.
sc> showfru /SYS/SP
Examine the output for either of the following indicators:
/ManR/Sun_Part_No: 5101170
/ManR/Initial_HW_Dash_Level: 06
OR
/ManR/Sun_Part_No: 5101170
/ManR/Initial_HW_Dash_Level: 05
/ECO_CurrentR/HW_Dash_Level: 06
OR
/ManR/Sun_Part_No: 5111304
/ManR/Initial_HW_Dash_Level: xx (all dash levels are supported).
If the showfru output fields above do not reflect any of the above part numbers/dash levels
then do not attempt to apply this patch. You will need to swap
out your Service Processor for one of the above H/W part numbers.
TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE
----------------------
1. Place the firmware (FW) image in a network accessible directory (e.g. tftpboot
directory on the boot server).
2. Establish a connection to the serial management port of the T6320/T6320 G2 server.
3. Ensure that the DC power is off. Standby mode only.
4. sc> setsc sc_servicemode true
5. sc> flashupdateCPLD -s <ip address> -f <path/filename>
Example: sc> flashupdateCPLD -s XX.X.XX.XX -f path-to-file/520-3983-03-50.svf
6. Perform an AC power cycle to complete the update process. This can be accomplished by
removing and re-inserting the blade into the chassis.
7. Allow the Service Processor to reboot
8. sc> setsc sc_servicemode false
CHANGE Client Mode back to ILOM if desired
------------------------------------------
SUNSP00XXXXXXXXXX login: root
sc> userclimode root default
sc> logout
