How to Read the CPI

Abstract

This document provides an overview of the Customer Product Information (CPI) Library for the SAPC.


1   Library OverviewIntroduction

This Library Overview for the SAPC presents the information products available for the SAPC. The library contains the Customer Product Information (CPI) necessary for the life cycle of the product.

Target Groups

The target group for this document is all personnel involved in work related to any aspect of the SAPC products.

Personnel working on Ericsson products or systems must have the training and skills required to perform their work correctly.

CPI Revision Information

Updating of the CPI follows the updating of the product. The CPI is dated, numbered, and contains clearly stated revision status. The procedure to produce and update the CPI follows the well-defined Ericsson standard. There are two ways to get CPI revision information:

Compare The Compare function in the Active Library Explorer compares two container files. It lists the documents that are new, changed, and removed.
Subscription to change notices A subscription to change notices is included in the CPI Extranet services included in the Ericsson E-business portal. When the CPI for a product presented in the CPI Extranet services is changed, a message is sent to the customer.

2   Structure of the CPI Library

The documents in the CPI Library are grouped into folders. Each folder identifies a type of information as follows:

Safety and Environment It contains information on health and safety in the workplace, product safety, and the external environment.
Library Overview It contains a description of the library contents. This folder also contains the glossary that lists terms, abbreviations and acronyms, and their explanation and expansion.
Product Overview It holds commercial and technical description of the product.
Planning It contains useful information at an early stage to Network operators, to plan for the introduction of the product in their networks.
Operation and Maintenance It contains information required to operate and maintain the product.
Emergency It contains the information needed to re-establish services following serious disturbances to system operations.
Interface It contains information on external interfaces.

In the listing below, all folders are listed but only the most important documents are mentioned.

The Safety and Environment folder includes important information for health and safety in the workplace, product safety, and the external environment.

This documentation is intended for all personnel. Anyone working with hardware.

The Product Overview folder includes the following documents:

This documentation is intended for the operator, marketing personnel, system engineers, and anyone working with the SAPC who wants technical details of the SAPC functions.

3.4   Planning

The Planning folder contains technical descriptions of the changes introduced in this product release and their impact on the network.

3.5   Operation and Maintenance

The Operation and Maintenance folder includes information required to operate and maintain the product.

Operation & Maintenance documentation is intended for Network Administrators, System Administrators, Network Supervision Administrators, and personnel involved in any operation and maintenance activity.

The Operation and Maintenance folder is the main folder of the CPI library. It is divided into subfolders according to the following sections.

The Configuration Management folder contains all information to configure the SAPC application.

This document is intended for technicians authorized to perform emergency recovery procedure on the SAPC.

3.7   Interface

The Interface folder includes information on external interfaces and also contains the following documents:

The target groups are Network Administrator, System Administrator, and Network Supervision Administrator. These documents are intended for personnel needing to understand the logical entity, including interfaces and protocols.

4   How to Read the CPI

Read the documents in the following order:

  1. This document.
  2. Product Description. Refer to Technical Product Description in the Product Overview folder.
  3. SAPC Network Description
  4. Go through the documents in System Management folder.
  5. The area User Guides: Fault Management User Guide, Performance Management, and so on.
  6. Go through the Configuration Guides in the Configuration Management folder, so that you get an overview of all the possibilities to configure the SAPC application.
  7. Go through all Alarm Operating Instructions in the Alarms folder, so that you get an overview of all possible alarms in the node.
  8. Go through all Interface Descriptions in the Interface folder, so that you get an overview of all external interfaces to the node.
