Abstract
This document provides an overview of the Customer Product Information (CPI) Library for the SAPC.
1 Library OverviewIntroduction
This Library Overview for the SAPC presents the information products available for the SAPC. The library contains the Customer Product Information (CPI) necessary for the life cycle of the product.
Target Groups
The target group for this document is all personnel involved in work related to any aspect of the SAPC products.
Personnel working on Ericsson products or systems must have the training and skills required to perform their work correctly.

CPI Revision Information
Updating of the CPI follows the updating of the product. The CPI is dated, numbered, and contains clearly stated revision status. The procedure to produce and update the CPI follows the well-defined Ericsson standard. There are two ways to get CPI revision information:
- Compare function in the Active Library Explorer
- Subscription to change notices included in the Extranet services
| Compare | The Compare function in the Active Library Explorer compares two container files. It lists the documents that are new, changed, and removed. | |
| Subscription to change notices | A subscription to change notices is included in the CPI Extranet services included in the Ericsson E-business portal. When the CPI for a product presented in the CPI Extranet services is changed, a message is sent to the customer. | |
2 Structure of the CPI Library
The documents in the CPI Library are grouped into folders. Each folder identifies a type of information as follows:
| Safety and Environment | It contains information on health and safety in the workplace, product safety, and the external environment. | |
| Library Overview | It contains a description of the library contents. This folder also contains the glossary that lists terms, abbreviations and acronyms, and their explanation and expansion. | |
| Product Overview | It holds commercial and technical description of the product. | |
| Planning | It contains useful information at an early stage to Network operators, to plan for the introduction of the product in their networks. | |
| Operation and Maintenance | It contains information required to operate and maintain the product. | |
| Emergency | It contains the information needed to re-establish services following serious disturbances to system operations. | |
| Interface | It contains information on external interfaces. | |
3 Contents of CPI Library
In the listing below, all folders are listed but only the most important documents are mentioned.
3.1 Safety and Environment
The Safety and Environment folder includes important information for health and safety in the workplace, product safety, and the external environment.
This documentation is intended for all personnel. Anyone working with hardware.
3.2 Library Overview
The Library Overview folder includes the following documents:
- Library Overview. Describes the overview of the CPI library (this document).
- Library Revision Information (when available). Describes the changes in the library from the previous version.
- Glossary of Terms and Acronyms. Contains explanations of all terms, abbreviations, and acronyms that occur in the CPI library.
- Trademark Information. Lists the trademarks used in the CPI library.
- Typographic Conventions. Describes the typographic conventions used in the library.
This documentation is intended for users of SAPC documentation.
3.3 Product Overview
The Product Overview folder includes the following documents:
- The SAPC Technical Product Description describes
the architecture, features, configurations, interfaces, Operation
& Maintenance of the current release of the SAPC.
This folder also contains documents describing in detail the functions provided by the SAPC
- Statement of Compliance.
This documentation is intended for the operator, marketing personnel, system engineers, and anyone working with the SAPC who wants technical details of the SAPC functions.
3.4 Planning
The Planning folder contains technical descriptions of the changes introduced in this product release and their impact on the network.
3.5 Operation and Maintenance
The Operation and Maintenance folder includes information required to operate and maintain the product.
Operation & Maintenance documentation is intended for Network Administrators, System Administrators, Network Supervision Administrators, and personnel involved in any operation and maintenance activity.
The Operation and Maintenance folder is the main folder of the CPI library. It is divided into subfolders according to the following sections.
3.5.1 Fault Management
The Fault Management folder contains the following folders or documents:
- Fault Management: Provides an overview of the management model and concepts associated with the Fault Management managed area.
- The Alarms subfolder contains all Alarm Operating Instructions (OPI). An Alarm OPI includes a procedure to clear the alarm.
- The Notifications subfolder contains all notification descriptions. A Notification Description describes the reason why a notification has been issued.
- Troubleshooting information. Common corrective actions to locate an error.
- Data Collection Guideline. Describes data collection for the Customer Service Request (CSR).
These documents are intended for fault handling, alarm handling, and troubleshooting.
3.5.2 Configuration Management
The Configuration Management folder contains all information to configure the SAPC application.
The following information is included:
- System Management:Provides an overview of the management
model and concepts associated with the System Management managed area
Ericsson Command-Line Interface User Guide: Describes the basic features of the Ericsson Command-Line Interface (ECLI) and how to use it.
- File Management. Provides an overview of the management model and concepts associated with the File Management managed area.
- Transport Management. Provides an overview of the management model and concepts associated with the Virtual IP Address Management managed area.
- SS7 Management
- Configuration guides describing the node configuration and provisioning process for SAPC.
- Provisioning tools and interface.
These documents are intended for configuration, provisioning, and fine-tuning.
3.5.3 Performance Management
The Performance Management folder contains the following documents:
- Performance Management: Provides an overview of the management model and concepts associated with the Performance Management managed area.
- Measurements: This is a list of all available measures for the SAPC.
These documents are intended for personnel involved in performance monitoring.
3.5.4 Logging Management
The Logging Management folder contains the following document:
- Logging Events: This document is a list of all available logging events for SAPC.
3.5.5 Scaling Management
The Scaling Management folder contains the following document:
- Scaling Management: Provides an overview of the management model and concepts associated with the Scaling Management managed area.
3.5.6 Security Management
The Security Management folder contains the following information:
- Certificate Management provides a management interface for certificate information, which is used for authentication and encryption purposes.
- Privacy User Guide
- Security Management Guide
These documents describe security management options available in the product.
3.5.7 Software Management
The Software Management folder contains the following documents:
- Back up and Restore: Provides an overview of the management model and concepts associated with the Backup and Restore managed area.
- License Management: Provides an overview of the management model and concepts associated with the License Management (LM) managed area.
- Software Inventory Management: Provides an overview of the management model and concepts associated with the Software Inventory Management managed area.
These documents are intended for personnel performing preventive maintenance of the software and for personnel involved in troubleshooting. They are also intended for personnel performing backup and restoration.
3.5.8 Hardware Management
The Hardware Management folder contains the following information:
- Maintenance Activities due to Faulty Blade
3.5.9 Network Management
The Network Management folder contains the following documents:
- Network description: This document describes the general network infrastructure of a SAPC system.
- Network Configuration: These documents describe the configuration of all networking components related to the SAPC.
3.5.10 Geographical Redundancy
The Geographical Redundancy folder contains the following documents:
- Geographical Redundancy Network Configuration Guide: This document defines the network configuration needed to run the SAPC in a Geographical Redundancy deployment.
- Geographical Redundancy: This document provides a guideline to manage Geographical Redundancy in the SAPC.
3.5.11 Managed Object Model (MOM)
- Managed Object Model User Guide: Describes the Managed Object Model (MOM) and how to use it.
- Managed Object Model (MOM). Defines the information model regarding node management. Presents a view of the manageable resources in the node and the parameters and actions associated with these resources.
3.6 Emergency
The Emergency folder contains includes Operating Instructions for use in emergency situations.
This document is intended for technicians authorized to perform emergency recovery procedure on the SAPC.
3.7 Interface
The Interface folder includes information on external interfaces and also contains the following documents:
- Alarm SNMP MIBs
- Events: Describes event HeartBeat and AlarmListRebuilt and how to handle them.
- NETCONF XML Schemas
- Ericsson Command-Line Interface: Describes the ECLI, including descriptions of all commands, key combinations, error messages, character support, and examples.
- Ericsson NETCONF Interface: Describes the Ericsson Network Configuration (NETCONF) interface, including standard compliance, NETCONF operations, and examples.
- Performance Management Report File Format: Describes the 3GPP compliant Performance Management (PM) XML file format supported in the PM interfaces.
The target groups are Network Administrator, System Administrator, and Network Supervision Administrator. These documents are intended for personnel needing to understand the logical entity, including interfaces and protocols.
4 How to Read the CPI
Read the documents in the following order:
- This document.
- Product Description. Refer to Technical Product Description in the Product Overview folder.
- SAPC Network Description
- Go through the documents in System Management folder.
- The area User Guides: Fault Management User Guide, Performance Management, and so on.
- Go through the Configuration Guides in the Configuration Management folder, so that you get an overview of all the possibilities to configure the SAPC application.
- Go through all Alarm Operating Instructions in the Alarms folder, so that you get an overview of all possible alarms in the node.
- Go through all Interface Descriptions in the Interface folder, so that you get an overview of all external interfaces to the node.
