1 Introduction
This section is an introduction to this document. It contains information about the prerequisites, purpose, scope, and target group for the document. This section also contains explanations of typographic conventions used in this document.
1.1 Purpose and Scope
This document gives a brief introduction to the Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) / Individual Locator Function (ILF) provisioning solutions based on Ericsson™ Dynamic Activation (EDA).

2 Overview
The Ericsson DSC provides ILF. Dynamic Activation supports provisioning of the ILF functionality in DSC by providing a CAI3G interface towards the BSS. In addition Dynamic Activation also provides backward compatibility towards the Subscriber Location Function (SLF) provisioning interface earlier provided by PG Classic (in 15.0 or earlier releases).
An overview of the DSC/ILF provisioning solution supported by Dynamic Activation is shown in Figure 1.
- BSS – Initiates the provisioning request towards Dynamic Activation.
- Dynamic Activation – A provisioning system that provides a single provisioning interface towards the Business Support System (BSS), by hiding the complexities of provisioning multiple underlying Network Elements (NEs).
- DSC – Diameter Signaling Controller, a key element for managing and securing Diameter signaling. It consists of two individual clusters, and only one blade in each cluster handles provisioning traffic.
3 Data Model DSC/ILF
An ILF or SLF subscription request, which is an XML document containing user information, is sent towards Dynamic Activation. The subscription data is then provisioned and stored as internal data in DSC.

4 ILF Provisioning
For the ILF provisioning, CAI3G is the interface provided. The CAI3G SLF provisioning operations are provided for backward compatibility. It is possible to perform the following Get and Set operations:
- Get/ Set Subscription
- Get/ Set SLFSubscription

4.1 Subscription
Subscription service is used for associating the MSISDNs, IMSIs, public identities, and private identities with HSS.
For the ILF functionality in DSC, it supports the following associations:
- msisdnEntry
- imsiEntry
- publicIdEntry
- privateIdEntry
4.2 SLFSubscription
This service is provided for backward compatibility towards old SLF provisioning support. The following identities are supported:
- msisdnEntry
- imsiEntry
- publicIdEntry
- privateIdEntry
5 WS-Security
DSC CAI3G interface is the southbound interface supported by Dynamic Activation, which uses web WS-Security mechanisms instead of Session Control service as the authentication method:
- HTTPS – password in clear text as the primary method.
- HTTP – password in digest as an alternative backup method.
