Delete Inactive Software Version

Contents

1   Description

This instruction describes how to delete an inactive software version from the managed element. This operation can be used to save disk space when an inactive software version, which is no longer needed, has not been deleted automatically by the latest software upgrade.

2   Procedure

2.1   Delete Inactive Software Version

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Navigate to the SwM managed object, for example:

    >dn ManagedElement=NODE06ST,SystemFunctions=1,SwM=1

  2. Identify the inactive software version to delete:

    (SwM=1)>show -v ManagedElement=NODE06ST,SystemFunctions=1,SwInventory=1

    The following example output shows that two software versions are present. The software version with revision R7F01 is explicitly indicated as active. The other software version with revision R7E01 is inactive because it is not indicated as active. It is therefore possible to delete R7E01.

    SwInventory=1
       active <read-only>
          "ManagedElement=1,SystemFunctions=1,SwInventory=1,SwVersion=ERIC-COREMW_RUNTIME-CXP9020355_1-R7F01"
    [...]
       SwVersion=ERIC-COREMW_RUNTIME-CXP9020355_1-R7E01
       SwVersion=ERIC-COREMW_RUNTIME-CXP9020355_1-R7F01
    [...]
  3. Delete the inactive software version, for example:

    (SwM=1)>removeSoftwareVersion ManagedElement=NODE06ST,SystemFunctions=1,SwInventory=1,SwVersion=ERIC-COREMW_RUNTIME-CXP9020355_1-R7E01

    The system returns output true or false.

  4. Verify that the software version is deleted:

    (SwM=1)>show -v ManagedElement=NODE06ST,SystemFunctions=1,SwInventory=1

    The following is an example output showing the final result.

    SwInventory=1
       active <read-only>
          "ManagedElement=1,SystemFunctions=1,SwInventory=1,SwVersion=ERIC-COREMW_RUNTIME-CXP9020355_1-R7F01"
    [...]
       SwVersion=ERIC-COREMW_RUNTIME-CXP9020355_1-R7F01
    [...]
