1 Introduction
This document describes handling Call Session Control Function (CSCF) licenses. The CSCF licenses are required by the following CSCF features:
- Multi-Device
- Wi-Fi Calling
For information on the CSCF features, refer to CSCF Configuration Management.
1.1 Prerequisites
Users of this document are assumed to be familiar with Operation and Maintenance (O&M).
2 CSCF Licenses
This section provides information on licenses for the following CSCF features:
- Multi-Device, see Section 2.1 Multi-Device License.
- Wi-Fi Calling, see Section 2.2 Wi-Fi Calling License.
A CSCF license is defined when ordering a product. The license is available as a commercial license.
For more information on license functions and concepts, refer to License Management.

License Aspect |
The Multi-Device feature is subject to the Multi-Device license. If the license is absent or invalid, such as expired, the CSCF enforces the disabling of the Multi-Device feature. An alarm that indicates the unavailable license is raised by Network License Server (NeLS), if the scscfMultiDeviceAdministrativeState is set to UNLOCKED when the Multi-Device license is absent or invalid. |
|
Activation |
The license is activated by using the attribute scscfMultiDeviceAdministrativeState. The attribute scscfMultiDeviceServiceState is used to view the service state of the attribute. For information on these attributes, refer to Managed Object Model (MOM). |
|
Expiry |
If the license has expired, an alarm that indicates the unavailable license is raised by NeLS. |
2.2 Wi-Fi Calling License
The attributes of a Wi-Fi Calling license are described in Table 2.

License Aspect |
The Wi-Fi Calling feature is subject to the Wi-Fi Calling license. If the license is missing or invalid, for example, expired, Wi-Fi requests are blocked. An alarm that indicates the unavailable license is raised by NeLS, if the scscfWiFiCallingAdministrativeState is set to UNLOCKED when the Wi-Fi Calling license is absent or invalid. |
|
Activation |
The license is activated by using the attribute scscfWiFiCallingAdministrativeState. The attribute scscfWiFiCallingServiceState is used to view the service state of the attribute. For information on these attributes, refer to Managed Object Model (MOM). |
|
Expiry |
If the license has expired, an alarm that indicates the unavailable license is raised by NeLS. |
3 CSCF License Installation
Risk of system malfunction or traffic disturbance.
Before installing CSCF licenses, make sure that the CSCF is connected to the NeLS license server. For information on connecting to the license server, refer to Configure Connection to NeLS. For high-level support, the instruction Configure SSL Connection to NeLS is available.
After the server is connected, install the needed licenses. For information on installing a license, refer to Install License Key File, 6/1543-AVA 901 45/1 Uen in the NELS Customer Product Information (CPI).
If the newly installed license key in NeLS needs to be used before the periodic 24-hour automatic refresh takes place, refresh the CSCF application awareness of the license status by setting cscfLicenseRefresh to TRUE.
