1 Overview
1.1 Description
The system components are the CP, ECM, MM and OAM stack modules, and Signaling Manager itself. They are all support components that manages the processes and modules in the HD stack architecture. The primary configuration settings that must be done for these components are to specify which processes hosts should run and which modules the processes should use. All these tasks are described in this document.
1.2 Prerequisites
The document is intended for SS7 CAF applications.
1.2.1 Documents
Not applicable.
1.2.2 Tools
Not applicable.
1.2.3 Conditions
To be able to edit the System Components configuration, Signaling Manager tool must be run and Expert Mode must be set in the Tools menu. It is recommended to use template configuration *.cim files when configuring system components, unless a configuration file for the node has already been created.
There are several templates available:
example_double.cim
- contains configuration with SCTP FEs and SS7 BEs;
example_double_sctp.cim
- contains configuration with SCTP FEs only.
To set template configuration from *.cim file:
- Set Initial in "Tools->Configuration mode".
- Choose *.cim template file in "File->New".
Location of template files is "/opt/sign/cnf_template".
2 Default main object tree
Default main object tree presents in the System Components for both example_double.cim and example_double_sctp.cim templates. The System Components instance has the following 5 instances on level below:
3 Configuring CP
Default CP configurations are operable already. No changes are needed for both templates.
Description of CP configuration parameters may be found in [1].
4 Configuring ECM
Default ECM configurations are operable already. No changes are needed for both templates.
Description of ECM configuration parameters may be found in [2].
5 Configuring MM
Default MM configurations are operable already. No changes are needed for both templates.
Description of MM configuration parameters may be found in [3].
6 Configuring OAM
Update of default OAM configuration is needed for example_double.cim template. Remove all protocols which will not be used:
- Find and select the protocol in "System Components->OAM->Process Types->BE/NMP->Modules".
- Push "Delete" button on keyboard.
- Check validation: "Edit->Validate".
Description of OAM configuration parameters may be found in [4].
7 Stack restart
When system components reconfiguration is made then stack restart is needed:
- Run Process View in Tools menu.
- Do "Stack->Restart stack" to restart stack.
