<p>These instructions cover all actions to be done in the
BSC to take AMR into use.</p>

<h2>Before you start</h2>

<p>Make sure that the following procedures have been completed
before the installation and activation of AMR:</p>


<ol class="type-odd">
<li type="1"><p>Hardware is correctly installed and
the A and Abis interfaces are created as instructed in <em>BSS Integration</em>
in BSC/TCSM documentation.</p>
</li>
<li type="1"><p>HR channels are created to the cells
that are used for the AMR HR testing.</p>

<p>The procedure consists of the following phases</p>

<li><p><em>Switching the feature-specific
control parameter on and checking the licence</em> (steps 1-2).</p>
</li>
<li><p><em>Adding and modifying
circuits in the BSC</em> (step 3).</p>
</li>
<li><p><em>Testing AMR</em>
(steps 4-7).</p>


<p>The test requires an MSC, BSC, TCSM2, BTS and two MSs.</p>

<p>After activating the feature, you need to create an AMR
pool. You can either create a new A interface pool for AMR or modify an existing
pool to support AMR.</p>

<p>You must change the type of the first TC-PCM from FR to
AMR (pool 1 -&gt; pool 23). There are two alternative ways to do this: speech
circuits can be removed and added during modification or speech circuits can
be transferred automatically during modification.</p>


<p>The second way is simpler in the sense that it contains
fewer MMI commands than the first one.</p>

<dd>The modification is possible only between the types that
use the same number of bits in the Ater interface, in other words the submultiplexing
scheme is the same for the current and the new pool.</dd>

<p>Choose one of the following:</p>

<li><p><em>Remove and add speech
circuits during modification.</em></p>


<ol class="type-even">
<li type="a"><p>Remove the speech circuits of the first
TC-PCM from the circuit group that contains circuits of pool 1 (CEC, RCR).</p>
</li>
<li type="a"><p>Modify the TC-PCM type (WGM).</p>
</li>
<li type="a"><p>Restart the TCSM unit (USU).</p>
</li>
<li type="a"><p>Add speech circuits to the circuit
group that contains circuits of pool 23 (RCA, CEC).</p>
</li>

<li><p><em>Modify circuits
with automatic circuit transfer</em></p>

<p>The counters can be accessed from the database of Nokia
NetAct.</p>
