Capacity and restrictions of GSM-WCDMA Inter-System Handover

The Release 4 level 3GPP standard allows a GSM cell to
send the information of a maximum of 96 neighbour cells (includes cells of
GSM, WCDMA RAN using FDD and WCDMA RAN using TDD) to a mobile.

According to the 3GPP standard, a dual mode GSM/WCDMA mobile
is able to monitor a maximum of 32 FDD type WCDMA RAN cells on up to three
frequencies.
