<h1>Soft Channel Capacity</h1>

<p>Soft Channel Capacity in BSC increases the traffic channel
limit on the BSC2i and BSC3i platforms. The existing limit on the number of
radio traffic channels per BSC is doubled without increasing the overall capacity
of the BSC. The new limits are shown in the table below.</p>

<p>With these new limits you can configure all radio traffic
time slots to Dual Rate support. The increasing of the limits means that there
can be more TCHs created in the radio network than it is allowed to be activated
simultaneously, that is extra TCH capacity. The table below shows the maximum
amount of simultaneous active radio TCHs per BCSU. </p>

<p>Soft Channel Capacity in BSC is a licence based application
software. Its use is controlled by a capacity licence based on the number
of TRXs. To activate Soft Channel Capacity, the state of the licence must

<p>With Soft Channel Capacity in BSC, you can fully utilise
the AMR HR feature in the existing networks by enabling Dual Rate support
in all radio traffic time slots, without deploying more BSCs.</p>

<p>You must have half rate TRX licences for creating Dual

<p>The restrictions set by the capacity of TRXSIG are valid
also with Soft Channel Capacity. You should not create more radio channels
