ASTRO Spectra Clean Cab Programming Procedure

Description
This program will update the ASTRO Clean Cab Translator Board
(VLN5739) firmware in the event that an updated release is required
for feature enhancements or fixes. See Release Notes for information
specific to a particular release.

Note: This tool is used to upgrade the Clean Cab Translator Board
firmware ONLY. The internal ASTRO transceiver brick Host/DSP
firmware is upgraded using the FlashPort process; refer to the ASTRO
Service Manual for instructions.

Installation
To install the ASTRO Clean Cab Translator Board Updater (WiPLASH) on
your PC, extract the following files from the upgrade package .zip
file to a convenient location on your computer's hard drive:

setup.exe
cc_boot.s
mastodon.s
cleancab.cfg

Note:
Previous versions of WiPLASH should be uninstalled prior to
installing this version.

Next run setup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note:
After installation it will be necessary to manually copy
cc_boot.s, mastodon.s and cleancab.cfg to the application directory
("C:\Program Files\Motorola\WiPLASH" by default). Be sure you are
using the versions of these files supplied with the upgrade -
overwrite or delete any old versions of these files.

Procedure
The following instructions detail the operations of the upgrade kit:

1. Turn on the Clean Cab.

2. Connect the SRIB, PC or laptop computer, and station as shown
below in Figure: SPLASH Programming Setup. Splash will use Comm port
1 by default.

WiPLASH.

4. Select the Astro Clean Cab Platform.

5. Press the Begin Flash button.

6. Cycle power on the Clean Cab when requested to do so.

7. Wait for "FAIL 01/90" to be displayed on the Control Head before
continuing. (If the 01/90 error is not displayed the radio did not
enter bootstrap mode. Verify the SRIB and computer connections and
retry.)

8. Verify WiPLASH reports "Programming Successful". (If errors are
reported refer to the on-screen instructions or the Help file.)

9. Disconnect SRIB from the Clean Cab.

10. Cycle power on the Clean Cab.

11. While in Self-Test Mode, depress the HOME button 5 times.

12. Check display for the correct firmware version: CNTLHDxx. (xx
will be the abbreviated firmware version number, e.g. xx = 21 for
firmware version 2.1)
