     - Max Trunking Systems = 20
     - Max Modes = 256

CPS Enhancements:
-----------------
- The frequency Pick List now supports the UHF and VHF bands.
- The Read/Write Password feature allows the user to force a password
authentication when attempting to read and/or write an archive file
or radio codeplug. NOTE: When turning on the Read Write Password feature
for the first time, if you see the "Radio Password" or "Codeplug
Password" field, do not enter a password in this field. Instead, only
enter the password in the "New Password" and "Confirm Password" field.
- An Enhanced Drag/Drop report will automatically be displayed (if enabled
via the options) when a drag and drop is executed. The user can also
double click on any of the items in the list to immediately display that
  field.

Please refer to the CPS Online Help for more information on these features.

Issues Fixed in this release:
-----------------------------
1) If the user tried to Drag and Drop frequency related fields from an
XTS 5000 codeplug to an ASTRO Spectra Plus codeplug with CPS version
R02.00.00, the information would not be copied correctly. The frequency
   related fields now copy correctly.

Known Issues:
-------------
1) FLASHport does not currently support USB connectivity.
2) Only one RS232 COM port can be configured for CPS use, and that port
must be specified at the time of installation. Once the CPS is running,
this is the only port that will work for RS232 operation.
3) Attempting to Read from or Write to a radio with the CPS while the Tuner
is open will cause a communication failure.
4) In the rare event that PC to radio communications fail (even after
restarting both the Tuner and the radio) it may be necessary to
"Hang-up" the stalled connection. Do this by going to My Computer
-> Dial Up Networking and clicking "Hang-up" or "Disconnect" if
visible on any of the connections named "ConnMot..."
5) Due to French import laws, the Microsoft encryption support used to
create archive (.cpg) files with the CPS (Customer Programming Software)
is not available on the French version of the Windows Operating Systems.
Therefore, there is no way to save archive files when the CPS is
installed on the French version of Windows. Until import laws are
changed such that Microsoft can provide encryption support, this feature
   can not be addressed.
6) If a Trunking System and a Trunking Personality that uses that System
are dragged from a codeplug in one band to a codeplug in another band
(for example, from an 800 MHz codeplug to a UHF codeplug), and the
System and Personality then need to be deleted, the System must be
deleted before deleting the Personality. Deleting the Personality first
may cause the CPS to terminate. This issue only occurs when dragging and
dropping from one band to another, and only when the deletion is done in
the same CPS session as the drag/drop (i.e., without closing the CPS
   first).
7) Under Tools->FLASHport->Read Radio Configuration, if you attempt to
close the dialog box by pressing the 'X' in the upper right of the
dialog while the application is still busy (the cursor is shaped like
an hourglass), the application may terminate.
8) When cloning from a radio with a firmware version less than R01.50.00
to a radio with a firmware version equal to or greater than R01.50.00,
the AGC fields on the Radio Wide->Tx Audio Control page in the old
codeplug WILL NOT be copied to the AGC fields on the Radio Wide->
Tx Audio Control Per Mode page in the new codeplug. It is recommended
that you check these settings after cloning from an older radio to a
   new radio.
9) If you experience issues during cloning on Windows ME machines with the
USB cable, using RS232 communications should resolve the issues.
10)For UHF radios, frequencies in the following ranges cannot be set using
   the Frequency Picklist feature:
     469.00000 - 470.00000
     511.00000 - 512.00000
Customers using frequencies in these ranges should not use the
Frequency Picklist feature at this time.
11)When using the Frequency Picklist feature, if a frequency field is
marked invalid when it should be valid, save the codeplug
(you may need to change that invalid field to another value), turn
Frequency Picklists off (via User Options), then reopen the codeplug.
Be sure that the values entered into the lists on the Frequency
Picklists Dialog are valid frequencies for the codeplug. Under some
circumstances, invalid frequencies may be accepted as valid and saved
to a radio, which may result in failures during radio operation or
transmission on unexpected frequencies. To avoid this, ensure the use
of valid frequencies in the Picklist, or turn the Frequency Picklists
feature off. Proper validation of frequencies does occur when Frequency
   Picklists is turned off.
12)Windows NT Installation: If the Install does not find the shlwapi.dll in
*\WINNT\System32 directory, you will need to install Internet
Explorer 4.1 or above to facilitate the XML install, which is required
for the FLASHport feature of the CPS.
13)Customers using USB communication (Windows 2000 SP 2 or higher and
Windows ME only) that have non-Motorola radio modems installed on
their computers may find that their computer attempts to communicate
with the radio through that non-Motorola modem. If this occurs, please
see the section entitled "USB Communications with Non-Motorola Modem
on PC" at the end of this Readme.txt file.

Installation:
-------------
1) Uninstall any previous version of the XTS 2500 & XTS 5000 CPS
   and reboot your machine.
2) When you insert the Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive, the
installation will start automatically if you have auto start enabled for
your PC. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
3) Please refer to the CPS Programming Installation Guide, which you
received with this software for more detailed information. It is very
important that the steps in both the "Installation of the CPS and Tuner"
and the "Optimizing the Communication Setup" section of the Guide are
followed carefully. Failure to follow any of these steps may result in
being unable to communicate with your radios.
4) Before uninstalling the CPS, disable the CPS Password if you have enabled
this feature, and close the CPS Launcher if it is running in the system
   tray.

Connecting the PC to the Radio:
-------------------------------
Do not use the Radio Interface Box (RIB), Smart Radio Interface Box (SRIB)
or any of the cables that plug into those boxes. Use only the following
direct PC to radio cables:

   XTS 5000 / XTS 2500: RS232 cable = RKN4106, USB cable = RKN4105

When using the USB cable, be sure to always click "Yes" on the Digital
Signature window whenever it is displayed by your operating system. Note
that the USB cable can be used only with the Windows ME and Windows 2000
operating systems.

Programming Hints:
------------------
1) For Trunking customers, the first time you start the CPS, you should
go to the User Settings Dialog under the Tools menu and set up the
directories where you will store your system keys.
2) If you experience difficulty establishing communication with your radio,
please see the "Communications Troubleshooting" chapter in the CPS
online Help. If you are using a proxy server, edit the settings to
ignore 192.168.128.0 with a netmask of 255.255.255.0. Certain networking
software may interfere with PC to radio communications.
3) To retrieve data from XTS 3000 or ASTRO Saber codeplugs, you should read
the codeplug into the ASTRO Saber / XTS 3000 CPS and use the top node
drag and drop feature to copy the data into your XTS 5000 or XTS 2500
codeplug. Drag and drop is a very powerful and time-saving tool, but you
should always verify the data before writing to a radio. The Drag and
Drop Report can help with this verification. Please view the Drag and
Drop Tutorial included in Help for more information.
4) To get help on a field, press F1 while you are on the field, or click on
the Help button on the tool bar (an Arrow with a question mark) and then
click on the field for which you want to view help.
5) For more information on the features available in the Windows CPS, we
suggest you view the audio-visual help tutorials. They can be accessed
from the CPS menu by selecting Help->CPS Help Topics, and then double-
clicking on CPS-User...Audio & Video Tutorials, then The Tutorials Menu.
Then select the tutorial you wish to view.

Differences Between XTS 3000 & ASTRO Saber CPS and XTS 2500 & XTS 5000 CPS:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Conventional frequencies are no longer input on the Conventional
Personality. They are now located on the Zone Channel Assignment table.
This interface is similar to the trunking interface and it also enables
the radio to support many more Conventional Channels than Conventional
   Personalities.
2) New cabling is required for the XTS 2500 & XTS 5000. The new cable does
not use a RIB or SRIB. Refer to the 'Connecting the PC to the Radio'
section of this file for the part number.

USB Communications with Non-Motorola Modem on PC
------------------------------------------------
If you have a non-Motorola modem installed on your computer and are having
trouble communicating via USB, please try the following steps:

WINDOWS 2000
------------
- Connect the USB cable to your radio.
- Turn on the radio.
- Connect the cable to the USB port on your computer.
- Wait 5 seconds.
- Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Phone
   and Modem Option
- Verify that you have an entry for your desired product Motorola
XTS 2500 Radio (USB) or Motorola XTS 5000 Radio (USB).
Note: If you do not see an entry, please follow the steps outlined
in the "Communications Troubleshooter". Launch the CPS and proceed
to Help -> CPS Help Topics. On the Contents tab, double-click on
"Communications Troubleshooting" to expand the topic, then
double-click on "Communications Troubleshooter" and follow the
      on-screen instructions.
- Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware Tab ->
Device Manager -> Click on the "+" sign for Modems
- Verify that the Motorola modem exists without a "?" mark sign before it.
If you do not see an entry or you see a "?" please follow the steps
outlined in the "Communication Troubleshooter (See above for
      instructions on launching the Troubleshooter.)
-  Go to Start -> Settings -> Network and Dial-up Connections ->
Right-Click on ConnMotXTSUSB and select Properties.
- On the General page verify that you are "Connect using:" Modem -
Motorola XTS 2500 Radio (COMX) and not your non-Motorola modem.
      - If not, un-check the non-Motorola modem.
      - Check the Motorola modem.
      - Highlight the Motorola modem and move it up in the priority list
        before the non-Motorola modem.
      - In the "Phone number:" text box make sure the following entry
