When upgrading the KVL5000 from version OS R01.06.01/HSM R50.07.01 or prior, you MUST use the upgrade procedure "HSM & Operating System" in the latest KVL 5000 User Guide. 
Please be aware that using any other procedure for upgrading your KVL will result in the KVL being inoperable and will require servicing!!!

Procedure: 
1. Log on to the KVL as the administrator.
2. From the KVL main menu, go to Settings -> Manage firmware -> KVL firmware -> Upgrade.
3. Connect the KVL to the PC using the micro USB cable.
4. On the PC, copy the dedicated HSM upgrade file and OS_Upgrade_<version number>.zip into the following directory: This PC\kvl5000\Internal shared storage\fwupdate. The dedicated file extension for HSM upgrade is .bin_kvl
WARNING: Upgrade file MUST be present in the PC\kvl5000\Internal shared storage\fwupdate in order for KVL to process. Upgrade file MUST not be in any sub folder.
5. In the KVL, wait until the upgrade file is detected and tap "HSM & Operating System".
6. When prompted, confirm your choice.


When upgrading the KVL5000 from OS R01.07.05/HSM R50.07.10, you can upgrade the HSM and Operating System independently. However, it is recommended to use the upgrade procedure "HSM & Operating System" when a new HSM version is released.
