Welcome to the Entry Level Radio Customer Programming Software (CPS).

Hardware Recommendations

·     The application takes approximately 350 MB of free disk space on your PC.  However, more space would be required to save archive files of your radios.  Each archive file varies in size depending on the features of the radio.

·     For processor speed and RAM, the recommendations given by Microsoft for the release of the operating system that you are using should be sufficient.

·     A USB port.

·     A CD-ROM drive.

·     For best display results, set the DPI setting of your PC to the Normal size (96 DPI).

4. Installation, Removal

Installation

You need to have Administrator rights on the target PC in order to install the software.

 

Follow the steps below for the CD-ROM version:

·     Insert the CD-ROM containing the installation into the CD-ROM drive.

·     If the installation application doesn't start within 30 seconds, the auto-run feature for CD-ROMs for you operating system is likely disabled.  Browse to your CD-ROM and run the setup.exe program.  For example, if the E:\ drive is the CD-ROM, run E:\setup.exe.

 

Follow the steps below for the software package version:

·    Unzip the CPS package to a directory of a local disk.

·    Browse to this directory and run the setup.exe program.

 

Note:

1.         During re-install, settings for preferences and dealer information will be reset to their default values. You will need to check these settings after the new version has been installed and make changes as necessary.

2.         If a previous version of CPS has already been installed, you will be given the option to “Repair” or “Remove”.  If you are upgrading the CPS, then remove the previous version and start the installation process again.   If you are re-installing the CPS, then choose the repair option.

Removal

From the Start button on the task bar of your operating system, select Settings > Control Panel. Select the Add/Remove Programs option within the control panel. Select the Entry Level Radio Customer Programming Software item in the "Currently installed programs" box and click the remove button.

5. Driver installation

Windows XP Operating System

Before connect the USB cable to computer, please make sure your Windows Update setting is “Ask me to search Windows Update every time I connect a new device” via right click “My Computer” -> “Properties” -> “Hardware” -> “Windows Update”

Follow these steps to install the driver:

1.         Connect the USB cable between the host computer and the radio.

2.         Windows will open a “Found New Hardware Wizard” window.

3.         Select “No, not this time” and press Next.

4.         Select “Install the software automatically (Recommended)” and press Next.

5.         Wait while the computer searches and installs “CP210x USB Composite Device“. If the operating system prompts you that the software has not passed Windows Logo testing, press Continue Anyway.

6.         Windows will open a second “Found New Hardware Wizard” window.

7.         Select “No, not this time” and press Next.

8.         Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and press Next.

9.         Wait while the computer searches and installs "CP210x USB to UART Bridge Controller".

Windows Vista Operating System

Before connect the USB cable to computer, please make sure your Windows Update setting is “Ask me each time I connect a new device before checking for drivers” via right click “Computer” -> “Properties” -> “Advanced System Settings” -> “Hardware” -> “Windows Update Driver Settings”

Follow these steps to install the driver:

1.         Connect the USB cable between the host computer and the radio.

2.         Windows will open a “Found New Hardware” window.

3.         Select “Locate and install driver software (recommended)”.

4.         Wait while the computer searches and installs the driver.

Windows 7 Operating System

Before connect the USB cable to computer, please make sure your Windows Update setting is “Install driver software from Windows Update if it is not  found on my computer” via right click “Computer” -> “Properties” -> “Advanced System Settings” -> “Hardware” -> “Device Installation Settings”

To Windows 7 (32 bit) operating system, the driver will be automatically installed and ready for use when connect the USB cable between the host computer and the radio.

To Windows 7 (64 bit) operating system, follow these steps to install the driver:

1.         Connect the USB cable between the host computer and the radio. The system prompts the driver was installed unsuccessfully.

2.         Run Device Manager via right click My Computer -> System Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager.

3.         Select Other Devices then right click “CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller” and run Update Driver Software.

4.         Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

5.         Wait while the computer searches and updates the driver.
