NOTES ON MTSX RSS VERSION R06.00.00

 ===================================

The MTSX Radio Service Software is being updated to R06.00.00.

This version is developed off the R05.60.00 release.

Below is a summary of the various MTSX RSS enhancements and MTSX

Radio feature support introduced in release R06.00.00 of the

MOTOROLA MTSX RSS. Most of the new features allow the

programming of radio options. Therefore, the availability of

these options depends on the capability of the particular MTSX

radio being programmed. Please consult the MTSX RSS user manual

for a detailed description of the respective features.

MTSX RSS R06.00.00 FEATURES FOR MTS 2000 RADIOS:

 -----------------------------------------------

The following new features are available ONLY for MTS 2000 radios

with Radio Software Version of R06.00 or greater:

 -Channel/Zone Select on a Button

 -Full Spectrum Scan

 -MOSCAD

 -Selectable PL (MPL)

 -Suspend All Scan

 MTSX RSS R06.00.00 Enhancements:

 -------------------------------

 -FLASHport enhancement

Location: CONFIGURE PATHS AND PORT Screen (MainMenu->F9->F3)

Note: It is strongly recommended that the MTSXBOOT.ENC

file shipped with RSS version R06.00.00 or greater be

selected for the 'Bootstrap Code Path & FileName'.

 -Memory/Speed Optimization

Location: CONFIGURE PATHS AND PORT Screen (MainMenu->F9->F3)

Note: If your computer has only 4 MBytes of RAM Memory

(the minimum recommended amount), it is strongly

recommended that Memory Optimization be enabled. If your

computer has more available RAM Memory, Memory Optimization

will allow you to successively unpack a larger number of

codeplugs at the sacrifice of some speed at unpack time.

-Controller Board Initialization for Serial Number on MTX Radios

Location: CONTROLLER BOARD INITIALIZATION Screen (MainMenu->F2->F9)

 Please Note:

Diskette number 2 of the installation diskette set contains archive

templates that can be used as a starting point for cloning of MTX8000,

MTX9000, and MTX838 portable radios. These templates are created in the

image of older Privacy Plus models, notably the MTX800, MTX900 and MTX888.

NOTE: Templates are readable ONLY with MTSX RSS Version R02.10.01 or later.

In each case, the minimum new radio model required to cover all the

features of the older radio model is used. The similarity between these

templates and the older radio models is in the assignment of controls. The

rotary switch, toggle switch, and side button assignments in these templates

are made to resemble those of the older radios. In the case where there

are more buttons on the new radio than the old, the additional buttons are

left unprogrammed. Since the older radios did not support button assignments

that could be different in Trunked and Conventional modes, the Conventional

button assignments are left at their normal defaults.

The naming convention for the archive files is as follows:

The first 8 letters of the filename (to the left of the period) indicate

the older radio product family and model that the archive resembles.

The last 3 letters of the filename (to the right of the period) indicate

the MTX8000, MTX9000, or MTX838 model that is the basis for this template.

For example, the filename MTX900B4.B7 means that the MTX900 B4 model is the

radio that is covered by this template, and that the MTX9000 B7 is the model

that is used as the basis for this template.

Control assignments in these templates are as follows:

 MTX800 B3 Zone/Sys Chan/Sub Vol Set Unprogrammed Unprogrammed

 MTX810B1 B3 Zone/Sys Chan/Sub Vol Set Call Response Unprogrammed

 MTX900B1 B3 Zone/Sys Chan/Sub Vol Set Unprogrammed Unprogrammed

 MTX810B3 B5 Zone/Sys Chan/Sub Vol Set Call Response Unprogrammed

 MTX900B3 B5 Zone/Sys Chan/Sub Call Response Unprogrammed Unprogrammed

 MTX810B2 B7 Zone/Sys Chan/Sub Vol Set Phone Unprogrammed

 MTX888B6 B7 Zone/Sys Chan/Sub AMSS Srch AMSS Lock Phone

 MTX900B2 B7 Zone/Sys Chan/Sub Call Response Phone Unprogrammed

 MTX900B4 B7 Zone/Sys Chan/Sub Call Response Phone Unprogrammed

In the MTX810-like templates, the Call Response button provides the Phone

Decode function. In the MTX900-like templates, the Call Response button

provides the Private Call Decode function.
