DSC ID
The authorized DSC code of the transceiver can be programmed in this
item. This programmed DSC code is used for the distress call,
   individual receive, etc.

     ** **
** IMPORTANT: If the wrong code is programmed in this item, **
** distress calls will not be accepted and shore **
** stations may be confused. **
     ** **

Selectable value: OFF or 0000000000 to 9999999999
                             (Only 10-digit numbers accepted.)

       Selection method:     Push the [Space] key to turn the item OFF or;
Push digit keys, then [Enter] for code entry.

DSC TX on DUPch
Usable channels for the all ships call can be selected as any or simplex
channels only. Even when "simplex only" is selected, the all ships call
can be used on some "A" channels (e.g. channel 88A). The all ships call
transmits the channel data without "A" information, therefore, true
simplex channels (e.g. channel 10, 11, etc.) must be used for an all
   ships call.

         Selectable value: ACCEPT or INHIBIT

Selection method: Push the [Space] key to toggle the selection.

                                    - 3 -

ATIS ID
The authorized ATIS code of the transceiver can be programmed in this
item. This programmed ATIS code is used for ATIS encode and decode.

     ** **
** IMPORTANT: If the wrong code is programmed in this item, **
** your ATIS code will confuse other ships. **
     ** **

Selectable value: OFF or 0000000000 to 9999999999

also at intervals while transmitting for long periods. The interval of
the ATIS transmission can be set.

Selectable value: 1 to 999 sec.

Selection method: Push digit keys, then [Enter] for time entry.

TX without ATIS
A transmission can be inhibited when no ATIS code is programmed.
If this setting is set to "INHIBIT" without ATIS programming, the
   transceiver can receive only.

        Selectable value: ACCEPT or INHIBIT

Selection method: Push [Space] to toggle the selection.

                                    - 4 -

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. CLONING OPERATION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Programmed data can be cloned to an IC-M58 instantly. All data is clone sent
from PC to transceiver (PC->TR) or clone read from transceiver to PC (PC<-TR)
for approx. 15 sec. A cloning cable, the OPC-478, is needed to connect a PC's
RS-232C port to the transceiver.

For convenience, when changing a small portion of the programmed contents,
clone read the data from the transceiver, modify the data, then clone send
it back to the transceiver.

CLONE SEND
The programmed data in the PC is copied to the transceiver.

1) Connect the OPC-478 between the PC's RS-232C terminal and transceiver's
   [SP] jack.

2) Turn the PC and transceiver power ON.

3) Start up this program.

4) Select "Clone" in the TOP menu with the [C] key, or the [Arrow] and
   [Enter] keys.
     - Clone sub menu appears.

5) Select "PC->TR" in the SUB menu with the [P] key, or the [Arrow] and
   [Enter] keys.
     - "Sending oooooo" appears in the bottom left of corner of the screen.
     - "CL" and "BUSY" appear on the transceiver display.
     - When cloning is finished, "BUSY" disappears.

** **
** SAVING NOTE: **
** **
** An initial setting file name such as "M58USA.INI" cannot be used **
** as a saved file name, since overwriting the initial setting is **
** inhibited. **
** **
** When starting up the program and no file name has been loaded, **
** "noname.icf" appears in the file name box. In this case, direct **
** file name entry is possible ("noname" disappears automatically). **
** However, once a file is loaded or saved, file name entry does not **
** change the file name. ([Del] or [Ins] key must be used to change the **
** file name.) **
** **
** To indicate the previously saved file name, "*" (wild card) may be **
** helpful to check the file name. **
** **
