Use the Migration wizard to perform cold migrations, migrations with vMotion, and migrations with Storage vMotion.
Ensure that your hosts and virtual machines meet the requirements listed in Requirements for Migrating Virtual Machines with USB Passthrough Devices.

Performing a migration with vMotion requires the privilege . |
1 | Use the Select Migration Type page to select the type of migration. |
2 | Select the resource pool in which to place the virtual machine. |
3 | Select the destination host on which to place the migrating virtual machine |
4 | Use the Select Datastore page to select the destination for the virtual machine's disks. The Select Datastore page does not appear during a migration with vMotion. |
5 | When you migrate a virtual machine’s disks to a new storage location, you can change the format used for the disks. |
6 | Select the migration priority to determine how vCenter Server allocates resources for migrations with vMotion. |
7 | Use the Review Selections page to complete the migration. |
