The inventory is a collection of virtual and physical objects that vCenter Server manages. It includes datacenters, clusters, networks, datastores, hosts, and virtual machines. Objects of the same type can be grouped into folders for easier organization and management.

In this release, the vSphere Web Client supports a limited subset of inventory management functionality, primarily related to creating and configuring virtual machines. In the vSphere Web Client, you can view information about clusters, hosts, datastores, and networks, but to perform most management tasks for these objects, you must use the vSphere Client.
